"Anything's possible" for Bayern Munich thoroughbred Thomas Müller after Besiktas rout
The 28-year-old grabbed a brace and assist in Bayern’s 5-0 rout of Besiktas in the UEFA Champions League last 16 on Tuesday, taking his tally to five goals in eight competitive appearances since the turn of the year.
“It’s a dream result,” Müller said of the first-leg encounter at the Allianz Arena. “The sending off helped. We played for around 70 minutes with a man advantage and, of course, we wanted to exploit that. We really went for it in the second half and we were rewarded. Anything’s possible.”
“Filou gave Thomas some invaluable tips for the game,” Lisa Müller posted on Instagram, Filou being one of the professional dressage competitor and horse trainer’s stablemates. She even provided behind-the-scenes footage to prove it…
Müller has his mojo back and Bayern are on track for a Bundesliga, Champions League and DFB Cup treble, but it’s not all down to raw talent, head coach Jupp Heynckes and playing for Europe’s most in-form side alongside some of the best players on the planet.
The Bundesliga’s inimitable Raumdeuter (‘space invader’) also takes tips from a prized stallion. No wonder opposition defenders can’t get near him.
