Kingsley Coman will remain under medical observation over the coming days after Bayern Munich’s French attacker sustained an ankle injury during his team’s scoreless draw against Hertha Berlin.

The 21-year-old – who has scored three goals and provided four assists in 21 Bundesliga appearances this term – suffered the knock following a collision with Hertha’s Matthew Leckie. Coman had only entered the action as a 68th minute substitute for compatriot Franck Ribery.

“Kingsley Coman suffered a capsular injury. The doctor doesn’t think it’s too serious. We’ll see how it develops in the next days,” Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes explained in his post-match press conference.

The France international has been enjoying a phenomenal campaign to date, with his overall stats showing a return of seven goals and eight assists in 32 appearances across all competitions in 2017/18. It remains to be seen whether or not the 21-year-old will be fit to face Freiburg at the Schwarzwald-Stadion next Sunday.
