Marseille make Amavi deal permanent
Olympique de Marseille have made Jordan Amavi’s loan deal from Aston Villa permanent after an impressive start to the 2017/18 Ligue 1 Conforama campaign which saw the left-back earn a maiden France call-up.
The 23-year-old, who left OGC Nice for Villa in 2015, returned to the French top flight this summer on a one-year loan deal with Marseille.
With Patrice Evra struggling against injury, Amavi has been thrust into the spotlight at the Stade Vélodrome, though, with his performances earning a call-up to Didier Deschamps’ France squad for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Bulgaria and Belarus, and a permanent OM contract that runs until 2021.
Amavi’s five starts for Marseille this season have resulted in three wins, one draw and one defeat. Rudi Garcia’s men are next in action away to RC Strasbourg Alsace next Sunday.
